WXHS counselors develop confidential relationships with students to help them resolve and/or cope with problems and developmental concerns. Responsive Services meet the immediate concerns and needs of students, usually with a prevention focus, e.g., programs for dropout prevention, student assistance teams, peer leadership, and drug and alcohol prevention.
Maintain counseling website, facebook pages, Remind 101.com and other communication tools. Write letters of recommendation and complete counselor portion of college applications. Collect and interpret individual student and group data. World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA). Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT). We also organize and supervise all testing and major test preparation at WXHS including. Wildcat Welcome for incoming sophomores (August) - Link Crew. nextSTEP, an evening of college preparation presentations and opportunities to interact with college representatives (Nov). Post High School Day (College Day) for seniors in partnership with the Utah Council (October). Plan and manage numerous activities that support student college and career goals. Proctor online testing (Every Wednesday after school). Provide individual and small group tutoring.

Update and keep students and parents informed as to graduation status, graduation summaries and credit retrieval options. Every school district has adopted policies to support the CCR process as an essential element of the student’s education. All students should graduate with lifelong career decision making and management skills that are necessary to succeed in post secondary education, training, and the workplace. All students should have access to the skills, knowledge, and dispositions provided by school counseling professionals. All students should receive a quality education for the development of the whole child. All students can succeed at high levels if given sufficient support. Woods Cross High School Counseling staff supports the beliefs of the Utah State Office of Education Woods Cross High School's professional counselors are certified/licensed educators with the minimum of a master’s degree in school counseling and are uniquely qualified to address the developmental needs of all students through a comprehensive school counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social domains. Professional school counselors analyze outcome data to guide future action and improve future results for all students. They also create reports that demonstrate immediate, intermediate, and long-range effectiveness of comprehensive school counseling programs. Woods Cross High School counselors develop and implement data/needs-driven, standards-based and research-supported programs, and engage in continuous program evaluation activities.
